Back to Sparks August 4, 2014

Back to Sparks. To the Wild Creek ward. That is the call. Still on a bike. Senior Companion and I will be with Elder Jacobs. I don`t know much more other than that at the moment. :) I have mixed feelings, but I know I will be going where I need to be.

I guess I should give you some details of this past week that have lead up to the point of transfer calls. I will start with this past Monday after I had got done emailing. We decided to play a game of indoor soccer as a zone. I learned the reason for and purpose of shin guards (pictures to follow). I have been using lots of ice this past week. The good thing is that it didn`t prevent me from working at all.

So yeah, we kept working and we were able to get about 4 of our investigators along with some less active members to our ward BBQ on Wednesday. Which was also Elder Reynolds` 20th birthday. It was a good time, but it made me feel old. Gotta love those 18 year old missionaries. Haha.

Another highlight this week was helping my good friend Calvin to attend and see a baptism on Saturday. He has come a really long way since I have been here. I am sure going to miss him. I met with him yesterday evening and he told me that he is gonna keep an eye out for me on the TV when I am catching game winning touchdown passes for ASU. Haha. He cracks me up. I also found out that he calls me Elder Slankey. I think I should be in the running for the most nicknamed Elder award haha. Anyway, it is gonna be tough to leave that man. I love him to death.

I don`t really know if there is anything else that was a huge highlight or crazy story this week. We just did what we needed to do. Worked hard and finished this transfer strong. Now it is time for me to move on to the next place I am needed and fulfill my purpose there. This week I have gained a lot more understanding of humility. I recognize that being humble is a key to being happy. I could just be questioning why I am not a zone leader or even a District Leader still. Someone else needs that opportunity though. I have different responsibilities now. I did what I needed to do here. I am leaving with no regrets. I am happy. :)

Dad- Well I am sorry that the beans were spilled a little bit early, but yeah, there are the details for you there. As far as I know. I feel as if I am going to die in the Stake I was born in, which is actually something I always said I would like to do. If I do end up staying there the rest of my time, I will have spent about 17 Months total in the Reno/Sparks area. I should qualify for the local prices at all the casino buffets ;) I really hope you can work things out with your job and get things moving in a more positive direction. Whatever you are, be the best. I think Abraham Lincoln said that. SIster Hagler shares that with me often. It is so true though. Just keep doing your part. It will work out. As far as the NFL goes...I had no idea it started until yesterday when Calvin was telling me. He showed me that the Chargers will be playing the Cowgirls on Thursday, but for sure keep me updated :) President Hermansen didn't know who David Schwimmer is either...haha oh well. I am looking forward to this time in Sparks. Gonna kick trash, and keep doing what I do. :) I love and miss ya Dad. Have a great week!
Mom- That is really crazy to hear that school is starting up again so soon. It feels like it just got out. Where does the time go?? Sounds like all the kiddos have some good things going on to keep them busy though, so that should be good. I am glad that you are enjoying your job though. You will have to let me know what you decide and everything. Like I also mentioned to Dad, Whatever you are, be the best. :) Keep going strong. I sure do love and miss ya Mom. Have another great week! :)

Jeri Lin- I like your thoughts on families. Honestly, for thoughts and ideas from me as from what I have experienced on my mission to strengthen them...Just be a missionary. The biggest way to strengthen families is to help them come unto Christ. I have seen it. I witnessed it first hand in Spring Creek. The Gospel brings about miracles and brings families closer than before. Especially if the Priesthood is able to be in the home. I don't know if that was the kind of answer you were looking for, but that is what I have come to know :) Other than that, I am glad to hear that your little family is doing so well. :) And to answer your question, yes I did take to years of Espanol. :) Thank you for all your help! I love you and miss ya much. Have a good week! :)

Keila- Hey. You are a pretty cool sister. Keep working hard. I love ya :) Have a good week!

Syd- Thanks for your email muchacha. I am glad you are keeping busy! Learn to love being busy and working hard. It is most definitely worth it! Good luck in swim and also with starting your Junior Year! That is really crazy. Make the most of it, and let me know how it is going for sure. :) Glad you are home safe and happy! Have a good week! I love ya :)

Leslie- Are you excited for High School? DId you get my letter? I really hope you are doing well. I love and miss you. Have a good week :)

Brooke- Mom sent me a picture of you I think after you did some synchronized swimming. How was that? She also tells me that you might do cheer leading. That is crazy. You will have to let me know :) I love ya and miss ya. :)

Hayden- Mom said you are going to be doing Flag Football. Did you get my letter? Score a touchdown for me. Love ya little man :)

Well that is all I have for this week. I hope you all have a good one. Love ya and miss ya :)

Love,
Your Son
Your Brother
Elder Bryton Dane Shinkle :)
